Chiplime Construction LLC was awarded various specialist structural concrete works on the Dubai International Airport known as Terminal 3 Concourse 2 including the Multi-Storey Car Park, by Al Naboodah Laing O’Rourke.
The new Terminal Building will sit beneath the taxiway and apron and is intended for use solely by Emirates Airlines, who are bringing in passenger numbers that are expected to more than triple in number from 16m in 2002 to 50m in 2010
The project is still on going and is due for completion mid 2006. The current production is regularly over 40,000m3 of concrete being poured regularly every week. On completion the total volume of concrete poured will be in excess 2,400,000m3.
Due to the immense scale of the project, on the various sections of the contract Chiplime employed in excess of 400 operatives and 30 staff to manage the works. The logistics alone of recruiting, employing, transporting and housing these personnel was a mammoth task in itself, however the task has been successfully met.
Atlantis Hotel, The Palm, Jumeirah, Dubai
The Palm is one of two palm-tree-shaped man-made islands that are being constructed off the coast of Dubai.
Atlantis Hotel will be two towers with a total of 2,000 rooms, with two monorail stations linking it to the main stalk of the Palm Jumeirah. The first tower (28-storeys), The Royal Tower, will contain 1,200 rooms targeting luxury travelers, and the second tower (18-storeys) will contain 800 rooms targeting other travelers. The resort was designed based on the mythical lost continent of Atlantis, along with traditional Arabic design themes. The premises will include a 40 acre (162 thousand square meter) water-theme park, various water attractions, 86 thousand square foot (8 thousand square meter) two-storey conference center, 20 thousand square feet (1.85 thousand square meter) of retail space, an archeological attraction entitled The Dig.

Construction started early 2006 and Chiplime were awarded one of the first ground works packages for the removal over 1600 piles ranging from 900mm to 1500mm diameters. The work was very successfully completed ahead of schedule and as a consequence Chiplime were awarded further superstructure works providing a range of logistics on the project.
